The Liberal candidate for Albert Park, Andrew Bond, today announced that if elected in November, the Liberal Nationals will provide $100,000 to St Kilda Mums.
This funding will be allocated for St Kilda Mums’ Every Baby, Every Town campaign, and to expand the Safe Start program to Frankston.
This would be the first time St Kilda Mums has received any government funding.
The funding will help St Kilda Mums expand its service provision throughout Victoria through a part time regional co-ordinator, and expand St Kilda Mums’ Safe Start program, which provides emergency material aid to maternity hospitals, to Frankston Hospital.
Founded in 2009, St Kilda Mums has grown from a small group of women who wanted to make a practical difference in their local community, to an organisation with more than 2,800 registered volunteers that helps thousands of families around Victoria.
In the 2018 financial year, they supported 18,535 babies and children up to the age of 12.
Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Families and Children, Georgie Crozier:
“St Kilda Mums is a vital community service who provides much needed support for families in need.
The Liberal Nationals appreciate the valuable contributions of community organisations like St Kilda Mums who contribute to the important work of strengthening families in tough times when they need it the most.”
